Vidudala Part 2 Movie Review: Vijay Sethupathi recently made a splash with the movie `Maharaja`. Now he is coming with `Viduthala 2`. This is the second part of last year`s `Viduthala`. This is a film made by the talented director Vetrimaaran. In this, Manju Warrier plays the role of Vijay Sethupathi. Suri plays another hero. Anurag Kashyap plays a key role. This movie was released today, Friday (December 20). And did this movie, which was made in Tamil, succeed in impressing the Telugu audience? Let`s find out in the review.
Vidudala Part 2 Movie Story:
Praja Dal leader Perumal (Vijay Sethupathi) is caught by Constable Kumareshan (Suri) and the police take him to the forest. While crossing the forest and going to the town, Perumal tells his story to the police on the way. He explains how the landlords and upper castes behaved in their villages at that time and why he had to become the leader of this group. In his area, the landlords try to enjoy the wives of the laborers.
Perumal confronts them. He ends the landlord. With this, everyone admires his courage. This is known to the communists there and their leader KK (Kishore). He is a leader who organizes communist political classes and leads the movement. Perumal becomes a leader after being attracted by his speeches. First, he exposes the conspiracy of the management after the workers die in the sugar factory.
He unites the workers and establishes a union. Unable to tolerate this, the landlords and factory owners kill KK, who is the cause of this. Perumal, who is even more enraged by this, kills all the landlords. This becomes a sensation. With this, Perumal becomes a target for the government and the police. From there, the police try to catch Perumal.
What happened next? How did Perumal meet Mahalakshmi (Manju Warrier)? Who is Mahalakshmi? What is their love story? What events happened while they were going through the forest while catching Perumal. Who was the real reason for the train accident? What changes did Perumal bring to the police like Kumareshan during this journey? What changes did Perumal make? What twist did the government give in Perumal's arrest? That is the rest of the story.
Vidudhala Part 2 Movie Analysis:
The first part of ``Vidudala'' shows Kumareshan's journey, his love story, and the courage he showed to catch Perumal. The second part is completely centered around Perumal's journey. The way he became a leader of the people's movement, the circumstances that led to his change and the actions of the landlords are shown in a very realistic way.
It is very realistically filmed. On the other hand, director Vetrimaaran discusses what communist movements are like, their ideas, their path, and what their ideology says. The shortcomings in the police system, the real situations at the officer level, and at the same time, the struggle of Naxals and communist activists, their tactics, sacrificing their lives in the process of fighting, sacrificing families, wives and children, and the struggle against injustice at the cost of their lives, is shown very clearly and in-depth.
That is the strength of this movie. It is also the highlight point. It shows well what kind of circumstances change a person. They are attracted to movements. The director also shows well how the police and governments sacrifice the poor and oppressed people. They sacrifice them. How they use them. The opening episodes and climax are very impressive.
The great thing about this movie is that it shows the story and narration very raw and very close to reality. However, the way Vijay Sethupathi and Manju Warrier's love story is also good. Adding comedy elements to such a serious film is a great adventure. It is also difficult. But hats off to the way Perumal's journey in the forest is combined with those elements.
Although the film is critically acclaimed, the question is how much the current generation will understand it if it is seen in a commercial format. The vocabulary used in the film and the communist ideology is difficult to connect with the current generation. At the same time, the slow pace of the film is a big minus. Although there is fun, twists and turns in the middle, the interest decreases as it progresses slowly.
The screenplay should have been gripping. On the other hand, the fact that the police tactics and the Perumal team's tactics are not so easy to understand can also be said to be a minus. Emotions and conflict are very important in such films. That is lacking in this. The audience will not be able to feel that intensity. However, the attempt to tell the current generation about the conditions of that time in an eye-catching way is good. The way it is shown close to reality is commendable.
Actors Performance:
Vijay Sethupathi's performance as Perumal is amazing. He gets excited in such raw roles. He got excited once again in this one. He looked like a Naxalite. He lived the role of Perumal. His performance in the love scenes with Manju Warrier is also good, and innocent. He seduced the film. And Manju Warrier as Mahalakshmi is amazing. Her role is another surprising element.
Suri's role as Kumarasan has been reduced in this. He appears silent for the most part. But he did well emotionally. His twist in the climax is good. Kishore impressed in a positive role as the movement leader KK. Gautham Vasudeva Menon impressed with his mark performance as DSP. Most of the other actors did well. They gave their all. They did it very naturally.
Technically:
The film is technically good. R. Velraj's camera work is the highlight of the film. Shooting such a film is a big challenge. The cameraman should be congratulated for this. In terms of editing, he could have done a lot better. R. Ramar failed in this regard. Ilayaraja's music is good. There is a communist flavor in the BGM and songs. Especially RR is very good. It will be another asset to the film. The production values are good. Director Vetri Maran is showing his uniqueness with such raw content. Now he has shown his mark once again.
He made the film more raw. However, it will connect with the Tamil audience to some extent. But our Telugu audience does not need such rawness. They cannot take it. He should have been careful about running the story slowly. However, even if he did this intending to miss the soul and emotions of the story he wanted to tell, it would still be difficult for today's audience. The clarity he gave through the role of Perumal and the way he told the reality through the role of Kumarashan are good. He can be congratulated for telling the story with such reality.
