Bachhala Malli Movie Review: Allari Naresh rose to fame with comedy films. Once upon a time, comedy was his strength. But now it has become his minus. Recently, his comedy films have not worked out. But he is impressing with action thrillers. He scored a hit with the film `Naandhi`. He again showed his mettle with `Ugram`. Recently, he was impressed with an emotional role with `Naa Samiranga`.
Following his success formula, Naresh has now made a film called `Bachala Malli`. Amrutha Iyer played the heroine in this film directed by Subbu Mangadevi. Rajesh Danda produced it under the banner of Hasya Movies. This movie was released today, Friday (December 20). And did Naresh score a hit this time? Did he get on the success track again? Let's find out.
Bachhala Malli Movie Story:
Bachala Malli (Allari Naresh) passes the 10th class with the first rank. His father celebrates that happiness. But in the meantime, there is sad news. His father gets into a relationship with another woman. She also has a son (Ankit). When the question arises whether he should stay with his wife or go with the wife he has kept, he goes with her. Seeing this, Bachala Malli cannot bear it. He becomes a rebel. He confronts the college lecturers and stops studying.
He becomes addicted to drinking. He buys a tractor and does agricultural work. He lives as he pleases. In this process, he sees a beautiful girl Kaveri (Amrutha Iyer) at the wedding of his elder brother's daughter (Hariteja) and falls in love with her. He gives up cigarettes, drugs, and girls for her. He does his own thing with his intellect. The two want to get married. He even starts a bag business for her.
If you cut it, he is caught by the police with a girl in a lodge. In it, the head constable (Rao Ramesh) is Kaveri's father. There is a fight with the police in that lodge. He is arrested in this case. And how did he get out of this? What did the father of the girl he loved know about this? Why did Bachalamalli become a drunkard again? Who was the reason for his father's death? Did he marry Kaveri? Or not? How did Bachalamalli's anger and stupidity turn his life around? The rest of the movie is about what kind of twists and turns took place in this sequence.
Bachala Malli Movie Analysis:
Now, films with raw content and realistic films are very popular. The movie `Bachalamalli` has been planned in the same category. But no matter how raw it is. No matter how much action and elevation there is, emotions are very important. Only if the drama is ripe and connects with the audience, the film is successful, otherwise, it is just a pile of ashes. `Bachala Malli` is half this and half that.
It is special to make this movie with realistic elements. Even though the movie is raw, the main thing is how much damage can stupidity in a person bring? The director has shown through this movie how much misery it can take life and how much tragedy it leaves behind. It must be said that he has succeeded in that regard. The movie tells what happened in three time periods in Bachala Malli's life.
The story begins in 2005. After getting hurt and falling down, it goes into a flashback. That is, in 1985, he secured first rank in the tenth class, after which his father moved to another house, and unable to bear this, he became a drunkard and a fool. Then came the film Bachala Malli Journey in 1995. This is a character-based movie. It is a story with good points in terms of story. However the director was not successful in presenting it on screen, in making the drama intense, in writing the screenplay gripping, and in connecting it emotionally with the audience.
The sudden drunkenness of the clever student's father did not seem that strong. On the other hand, the fact that he gets into fights does not seem that realistic either. It feels unnatural in many places. Unless one scene comes after another, the soul is missing in the film. The audience is unable to connect emotionally. Bachala Malli's emotions and pain do not reach the audience much. This makes the screenplay seem lifeless. However, it continues like this until the pre-climax, but Bachala Malli goes to talk to her father about the girl he loves and then becomes serious.
Especially after her marriage scene, she becomes emotionally connected. That is, attention starts from the pre-climax. They carry it in the climax take the emotions to a peak and end it. The story also feels old. Otherwise, the twists and turns in it are new. The entire movie runs slowly. In the middle, the comedy of Praveen, Hariteja, and Viva Harsha is not good in some places. The songs are good. Only the climax is impressive. Everything else seems boring. If they focused on these things, the movie would have been good.
Actors Performance:
Allari Naresh has rocked the village mass look as Bachala Malliga. It reminds me of roles like `Gamyam`, `Nandhi`, `Maharshi` of yesteryear. Even though he is impressive in terms of acting, it gives the feeling that it is not a role that Naresh is set to from the beginning. But in the climax, it is as if only Naresh can do it. Naresh lived that much. If there is anything positive in the film, it must be said that it is Naresh's acting.
Amrutha Iyer did a good job as Kaveri. She impressed me very much. Rao Ramesh did a good role as a police constable and Kaveri's father. The comedy of Praveen, Hariteja, and Viva Harsha is good. But they could be used better. Achuth Kumar impressed me by playing a role that is set to him well in the negative role. The new guys who played Bachala Malli's friends were impressive. Revathi lived up to her role as the mother. Ankit impressed as the younger brother. The rest of the characters seem okay.
Technically:
Technically, the film is good. Richard M Nathan's camera work is very good. It showcases this period look. The artwork is also a highlight. Editor Chota K Prasad should have sharpened it a bit. If the story had moved a little faster, curiosity would have been created. Vishal Chandrasekhar's music is good. Even though the songs were not memorable, they seemed enjoyable as long as I was watching them in the theater.
The BGM is also good. He did it decently without going overboard with the budget. There is no shortage of production values. It was produced with quality. The story written by director Subbu Mangadevi is good. Even though such stories came out twenty years ago, some of the twists are impressive. Especially the disasters that happen due to stupidity. How lives are destroyed, and how irreparable mistakes can tear lives apart is good. But he could not make the drama gripping. It would have been better if it had connected emotionally from the beginning.
